Both Syllabi (variants and thalassemias) were distributed by their
main author, Professor T.H.J. Huisman.  Unfortunately, Prof. Huisman
passed away at the end of May, 1999.  I do not know if the Medical
College of Georgia or the "Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation" have made
arrangements to continue offering the hard copy.

Professor Huisman had the foresight to pass along his materials and
references for the Syllabi to his colleague Professor
Georgi Efremov in Skopje, Macedonia. I understand that Prof. Efremov is
planning to continue with the Syllabi.  We have been directing people
with requests such as yours to contact Prof. Efremov and Mrs. Marianne
F.H. Carver, who was the late Prof. Huisman's assistant for many
years. I believe that they will be able to help you.
