Abbreviations for bacterial species names

The set of bacterial genomes used in comparative analyses consists of five E. coli strains, fourteen species of Salmonella, and several species from related genera. For simplicity, the names were abbreviated in all graphical representations as follows:

  (1-5)   ECO   Escherichia coli K-12   (E. coli)
(1-5)   ECH   Escherichia coli 0157:H7 (Enterohemorragic E. coli)
  (1-5)   ECU   Escherichia coli CFT073
  (1-5)   ECA   Escherichia coli 042
  (1-5)   ECP   Escherichia coli E2348/69
  (1-5)   ESA   Enterobacter sakazaki
  (1-5)   SHG   Shigella flexneri
  (1-5)   SHD   Shigella dysenteriae M131649
  (1-5)   SHS   Shigella sonnei 53G
  (1-5)   STM   Salmonella typhimurium LT2
  (1-5)   STY   Salmonella typhi CT18
  (2,4,5)   STT   Salmonella typhi Ty2
  (1-5)   SPA   Salmonella paratyphi A
  (2,4,5)   SPB   Salmonella paratyphi B
  (1-5)   SPC   Salmonella paratyphi C

Species marked with a '1', '2', '3', '4' and '5' in the first column are included in the comparative views using E. coli K-12 (1), S. typhimurium LT2 (2), E. coli O157:H7 (3), S. typhi CT18 (4), and S. paratyphi A (5), respectively, as the reference genome.
